She earned her USDF Gold Medal in 2000 by competing successfully at Grand Prix on a horse which she trained from breaking in at 3 years of age. After honing her skills for the past 20 years, she currently trains and competes at the FEI level. She is always kept busy coaching and instructing, traveling for clinics, riding and operating the farm. |
Deanna is experienced with all aspects of basic training, training the young or green horse, developing the dressage horse thru all medium level movements and finishing the FEI horse to his/her maximum potential always keeping in mind the Classical Training Scale. All training is done on the premise that the rider's independent seat is the most important element needed to allow the horse to work in self carriage and relaxation. "Deanna is the most perceptive and sensitive rider I have ever known. Her ability to feel things I cannot see and see things I cannot feel never ceases to amaze me. Her eye is as finely tuned as her body and the result is a trainer and instructor of tremendous talent. She has the unique quality of being classical in her style and, yet, very down to earth and basic when that is required. The difference she creates in a horse with just a little time in the saddle is remarkable. The growth she encourages in her students is just as amazing. I have had the privilege of experiencing both with her: the effect on my horse as well as the changes in how I ride. I feel blessed to have someone of such talent so close to my home. Not only is she a gifted trainer and instructor, she also is a really nice person with absolute integrity." Jeanette Heath "When I moved to central Wisconsin from Illinois 4 years ago, one of my major concerns was if and, more importantly, who I would find to help me with my dressage goals. I met Deanna when I was riding my now retired thoroughbred gelding. After just a couple of lessons, I knew I found a trainer who had the patience, experience and knowledge I was looking for. This past August, I bought a beautiful 8 year old Hanoverian mare. Deanna assisted me throughout the whole process of purchasing her. When she came home to Wisconsin we found she had some naughty tricks up her sleeve! Deanna was instrumental in helping me and my mare through these issues. She also was a great help to me as I struggled with my confidence. My riding has greatly improved since I began training with Deanna. I really admire all that she has accomplished in the past 20 years - she's pretty much done it all. For me, as an amateur basically new to showing, I couldn't have picked a better trainer and I'm really looking forward to the 2007 show season!" Linda Exline "Deanna is a tremendous trainer and coach. She teaches based on the training scale and has the rare ability to teach horses and riders equally well. Deanna has the ability to ride my horse, or any horse, and enhance their natural ability. She has great feel, and can "listen" to what my horse is telling her so she can teach me where I need to make changes in my riding. Her riding skill and knowledge base is quickly put to use anytime she rides a horse, she can help the horse move better, and can then teach the rider how to replicate what she's done. She has a great eye for detail and can quickly spot an issue, and can tell me what to do to improve my riding." Cinda Velasco "I'm a western rider who breaks and trains western horses for cattle work. With her knowledge, Deanna has helped me as a rider, trainer and instructor. If I'm having a problem with a horse, she can ride the horse and then tell me if it's something I'm doing wrong or if I need to explain it to the horse in a different way. At times, she has let me ride her dressage horses to get a feel for things." Rich Volk, Hidden Creek Ranch, Arpin, WI |
